This is really hard. I was in a similar situation (but in my case it was a job at a stable that just wasn't working for me any more) and I chose to leave and go someplace new. Hopefully your lady is a lot nicer than my boss was. I left because I needed to do what was best for me (getting ready for college, couldn't work 10 hour days for next to nothing and soem weekends), and she chose to be selfish and think of herself. I think that you should really think about it and make the decision about what is best for you, not her, and not anyone else. I understand that you don't want to abandon her, but she survived before you came along and I'm sure she will after you are gone. If it makes you feel better, see if you can find a few people for her to interview to replace you.
