You think you understand how the Patriot Act allows the government to spy on its citizens?

How else would they zero in on potential terrorist attacks? Even a plotting terrorist is a regular citizen until they are caught plotting an attack on Americans. Should we just sit back and wait for a terrorist to start an attack before doing anything or should we nip the attack in the bud? Its a hard pill to swallow but so is having ones loved ones killed or injured in a terrorist attack.
